• General Information

Hello musicians and all future guitar players, and welcome to Guitar Tutor Online. This web site is based on the teaching styles of Danny Poole. If you've learnt the guitar before, then some aspects of this site and my teachings will seem familiar. Sometimes there's only one good way to teach something.

How many times have you heard or seen this dribble? Eric Clapton didn't learn how to play like Eric Clapton in 30 days, he didn't have the "hottest groundbreaking methods of learning that will enable you to be playing like a pro in just 2.37th of a second". O.K. there's some sarcasm in that sentence, but what most people don't realise or don't want to realise is that there's no quick fixes when it comes to playing the guitar, or any instrument. Break away from the "I want it yesterday" way of thinking and take the time to do something right the first time. Sorry, there's NO quick fixes here!

If you want to make use of this site you have to take the time and go through it section by section. Sometimes you have to learn the boring stuff to get to make sense of the good stuff. There are sayings you hear everyday that ultimately have the same implication: mothers say "eat your vegetables and you'll grow up strong", training instructors say "no pain, no gain" and music teachers say "practice makes perfect".

THIS SITE IS NOT another tab site with thousands of songs for you to download or print out! It is here for you to learn how to play the guitar. If you are serious about learning the instrument, you will find the lessons here useful.

Having said the above, don’t be put off this site! We will not focus entirely on boring old Christmas carols and 200 year old songs. There will be some great, classic songs on here, but for now let's just learn the basics that makes every great guitar player what they are today.

Private Lesson Inquiry

Sorry but at the moment I am taking on no new students.

Danny Poole

Learning online can be a lot of fun, but some people need to see how it's done face to face and private lessons are the quickest way to learn.

One On One Tuition - These lessons are held weekly at my studio in Riverside Gardens, Townsville, Queensland, Australia. So unless you are in this area then my services are of no use to you. My Teaching methods can be directed in two ways.

The first is more of a standard style of teaching where you will learn from a guitar tuition book or this site. You will learn how to read notation sheet music and progress to more advanced styles from there. I have found this method works better for the 6 to 12 year old age bracket, or students that don't yet know what style of music they like.

The second method is learning by songs. In this style you will be taught by learning your favorite style/s of music or bands. With each song you learn there will be a full explanation on what you need to know to play that song successfully and also other songs like it. As you get better the songs will get more difficult. This teaching style is best suited for the 13 and older age bracket.

Are You A Guitar Teacher?

Being a guitar teacher myself I understand the value of a great teaching resource. YouTube is one of the more useful tools for teachers and students across the world today, with access to lessons on just about everything. This is good when you know what you're looking for, but it doesn't put into place a step by step lesson structure.

Guitar Tutor Online offers such a tool for guitar teachers both starting and experienced. With over 150 lessons, if you and your students could do 3 lessons per week, then that is one years worth of lesson plans available in one site. If you are a teacher and find this site one you frequently visit during guitar lessons then please give this site the credit it deserves buy suggesting to your students that they subscribe.
