Finger Exercises

Danny, how much stock do you take in finger exercises for guitar?

I guess there are two schools of thought. I relate it to the game of basketball here.

1) The only way to get good at basketball is to play the game.

2) Doing free-throws and practicing lay-ups can increase your basketball game.

What do you reckon?

That's right, it won't be the end of the world if you don't do them!

I look at it this way...

Finger Exercises (getting to know how to place your fingers and co-ordinate with the pick)
Scales (getting use to common patterns on the guitar)
Songs (made up from all of the above!)
