No!... well there is but why learn something twice!

Eventually YES! everyone has to learn Bar Chords. So you might as well incorporate it into a song you like.

In it's simplest form, a bar chord is just an open chord moved up one fret at a time using your first finger as the nut. An "E" open chord is...

0 - open
0 - open
1 - 1st finger
2 - 3rd finger
2 - 2nd finger
0 - open

a "F" bar chord is...

1 - 1st finger barred
1 - 1st finger barred
2 - 2nd finger
3 - 4th finger
3 - 3rd finger
1 - 1st finger barred

Whenever you sharpen (#) a note or a chord you move it up 1 fret (flat - down 1)

barre chords will open up immense possibilities for you.
I found barre chords impossible to implement at first but I persevered and just spent a couple of minutes a day trying to form chord shapes and strumming away. Each day it gets just a little better until after a few months I am now fairly confident with using barre chords. it really is just practice like everything else. just spend a few minutes each day, it will soon come to you.

As for a F# - well thats easy - you know how to play an E chord in open position? simply barre the first fret and apply the same shape (you will need to use the last 3 fingers instead of the first 3 of course) and you are playing an F chord - move that all up one more fret to barre fret 2 and you have an F# - move it one more fret and you have a G, one more fret and you have G# - can you guess what is at the 5th fret?
