Q: Why?
A: While subscription has been steady the site has become stagnant and has not progressed much over the years. The only time it has is when members have pushed me to do so or shown an interest in the content. By opening the gates to the site it will generate allot more page hits and interest in its contents, therefore more feedback and progress.

Q: How can you afford to do this?
A: DONATIONS, DONATIONS, DONATIONS! If donations don't match the average yearly subscription total I will have no choice but to make the site "membership subscription" again. So please click and donate what you can to keep the site updated and active. Site opened for donations on the 26-10-2008.

Q: I've already paid a lifetime membership, how does this change effect me?
A: It won't, you will still have access to all areas but your subscription fee will be treated as a donation. The membership database has been backed up and in one years time if the donation total is under the average subscription total all current memberships will be reactivated and you will still have your lifetime membership account.

Hello musicians and all future guitar players, and welcome to Guitar Tutor Online (G.T.O.). This web site is based on the teaching styles of Danny Poole. If you've learnt the guitar before, then some aspects of this site and my teachings will seem familiar. Sometimes there's only one good way to teach something.

LEARN TO PLAY LIKE ERIC CLAPTON IN 30 DAYS: How many times have you heard or seen this dribble? Eric Clapton didn't learn how to play like Eric Clapton in 30 days, he didn't have the "hottest groundbreaking methods of learning that will enable you to be playing like a pro in just 2.37th of a second". O.K. there's some sarcasm in that sentence, but what most people don't realise is that there is no quick fixes when it comes to playing the guitar, or any instrument. Break away from the "I want it yesterday" way of life and take the time to do something right the first time. There's NO quick fixes here!

If you want to make use of this site you have to take the time and go through it section by section. Sometimes you have to learn the boring stuff to get to the good stuff. There are sayings you hear everyday that ultimately have the same implication: mothers say "eat your vegetables and you'll grow up strong", training instructors say "no pain, no gain" and music teachers say "practice makes perfect".

THIS SITE IS NOT another tab site with thousands of songs for you to download or print out! It is here for you to learn how to play the guitar. If you are serious about learning the instrument, you will find the lessons here useful.

Having said the above, don’t be turned off! We will not focus entirely on boring old Christmas carols and 200 year old songs. There will be some great, classic songs on here, but for now let's just learn the basics that makes every great guitar player what they are today.

Being a guitar teacher myself I understand the value of a great teaching resource. YouTube is one of the more useful tools for teachers and students across the world today with access to lessons on just about everything. This is good when you know what you're looking for but it doesn't put into place a step by step lesson structure. Guitar Tutor Online offers such a tool for guitar teachers both starting and experienced. With over 150 lessons, if you and your students could do 3 lessons per week, then that is one years worth of lesson plans available in one site.
