Default In-Ear Monitors

I was thinking about getting an in-ear monitor for my bands stage performances. I have never used one and it is a lot of money to spend to test it out. Has anyone here used them? is it truly better than using a floor wedge?
Thanks in advance,
Fried

Default The Good, Bad & The Ugly

I use In-Ear Monitors and would have to say without a doubt "Floor Wedges" are the best way to go! This does not meant that they are not good, they are but here is a list of good and bad points...

GOOD
  • no carting around heavy gear
  • clear clean sound in your ears, if you have the money get the Sure E5 it is like having a studio sound in your ears, some of the lower price budds can sound like walkman earphones, they're good but not great!
BAD
  • you don't feel the music when your playing, a different feeling at first but you get use to it.
  • the lead can be annoying sometimes on the back of your neck
  • when people come up for a song request you have to pop the budd out all the time because you can't hear them.
  • after the song finishes you can't hear the audiences response, clapping, drunken shout out of songs because when both ears are in it cancells out outside noise
  • when the other members in the band talk to you while playing you can't hear them (same reason as above)
To combat a lot of the bad reasons above of not hearing outside noise I usually only wear only one bud in.
