Can you tell me your favourite guitarist and why?
Mine is Dave Matthews... Because he doesn't rely on FX or distortion to play a good riff or write a good tune.

I'm gonna have to give this one to Slash (Saul Hudson), an original member of Guns N' Roses, and Velvet Revolver. I love his work with the gunners, and the way that his songs don't sound like repeats of one another.

Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd
. I may be biased because I like the music so much? Is the reason we like the guitarist, the fact that we like the choon? |

I always use two guitarists as examples of soloing at different ends of the scale.
Dave Gilmore

I'd have to go with David Gilmour. Every note is absolute delicious perfection. I recently got the 'Making of Dark Side of the Moon' DVD; even now that Gilmour looks like a typical British old age pensioner, he's lost none of that incredible tone and note control. The fast stuff (Vai, Satriani et al) is not for me - give me quality over quantity every time!
I'm going to cheat and put in my 'number 1 equal' - Carlos Santana. There may be a bit of that 'because I love his latin music/sound' in there too. Amazing he could still play the way he did at Woodstock whilst in the midst of an acid trip! JT |

Justin,
in another thread you are asking where to get guitar licks, seeing as you are a Floyd fan, here is a site with all their tab for you to practice: http://www.guitarnoise.com/pink_floyd/ Have fun |

Pete - thanks for the heads-up! Some good midi backing tracks in there too.
