Personally I use this scale alot and it is my prefered minor scale shape. Even though this scale pattern does'nt start or finish on the root, I find it ideal for soloing and improvising. This scale has three notes per string making it easier to play quick repetative patterns as shown in the "Minor Scale Exercises" section comming up.
This pattern would also fits in with the E Minor shaped bar chord, although in the lower parts of the scale it's using the G minor chord shape.
The root of the scale supplied in the TAB is "A", this would make it an "A Minor Scale".

The audio is in the key of an "A Major Scale" root note starting from the 12th fret.
