Default Fingering

OK when i put my fingers on the strings to play a chord the string dosen't make a sound. Yes i am actually playing the strings. If it matters it is an acoustic guitar.

This is a checklist that I've made up for my private lessons. It the same for every chord, the only thing that changes it the amount of strings you strum!

Yes it will make a difference being an acoustic, read the last couple of heading in this thread http://www.guitartutoronline.com/for...read.php?t=166

Open chords practice checklist.
  • D Major - Photo
    • check chord & make sure it's right
    • strum 4 strings
    • play one string at a time
    • you can't pick the next string unless that string sounds out
    • the two reasons why a string won't sound out
      • not pushing hard enough
      • the fretting hand fingers are interfering with that string
    • then strum all at once
  • A Major
    • check chord & make sure it's right
    • strum 5 strings
    • play one string at a time

Default The A Chord

I have viewed Danny's CD, and it is the first time I have seen the use of the index finger as the pivot. I have seen other books suggesting other fingering positions, even using 2nd, 3rd and 4th finger. I can't get it right yet, I'll just have to perservere but I see it will improve the progression.

Happy New Year to everyone.
