Hello all,
I was wondering what warm up techniques you all use, if any, for different styles and different purposes. When I'm trying to get myself in time, I play a part of a song I know, usually the solo to "you shook me all night long", but I slow it down and really make sure the timing is good. Then speed it up after a few plays through, it's fun and for me it keeps my timing in check. If I plan to play something fast, I play up and down the major scale using alternate picking, building my speed to as fast as I can, while maintaining timing. Then I move onto pentatonic scales and other things. I was watching a friend of mine warm up before playing for a small audience at school, and just watching him was awesome, so what do you guys do? |

I generally start with something that I'm really familiar with and can play without thinking about it too much. I start slow and build speed concentrating on relaxing and loosening up both left and right hands. I use different pieces depending on whether I'm fingerpicking or strumming...
