Bar Chord Placement (Demo Page, Some Links May Not Work)
LEARN THESE NOTES ON YOUR "E" & "A" STRINGS BECAUSE THEY WILL BE USED TO FIND THE NAMES OF YOUR BAR CHORDS.
E Shape
If you were to play this E shaped bar chord from the 5th fret you would be playing an A Major chord. If you were to play it from the 7th fret you would be playing a B Major chord, it is as simple as that.
What ever the note is under the 4th finger on the 5th string is the name of the chord. Both you A shape and C shape bar chords are knows a root 5 position bar chords.
Here is an example of the three different bar chords we've learn't so far. If you wanted to play a C Major chord three different ways, you would play them as written below.
