I had my brother lower my action because he did a good job doing the same thing on our old squier and I like the way it played with that setup better than mine so I had him lower it. I don't know how much he lowered it, but the low E makes a funny noise now. It's not really a rattle, it has a really wierd tone and a little bit of rattle and if a bend the string a bit it goes away a little bit. I tried raising the string back up a bit and it still does it. Does anyone know what I should do to get rid of the sound and still keep the action as low as possible?
By the way my guitar is a powerhouse strat with 3 single coil pick ups: ![]() ![]() Thank you, Andrew |

mmmmmmm.... It's hard to say without hearing it. Usually when strings are lowered they start to hit the frets when played (causing the rattle), this is more so true for the thicker strings as the vibrate over more of an area than a thinner strings. Sometimes the frets can be out of shape so that when you bend the note it deadens, yours sound like this problem but in reverse. It could do with a fret filing and set-up from a guitar tech.
