MIDI File: All computers with a sound card will play MIDI files. The only change from one computer to the next is the quality of the sound.

The midi song examples will sound great if you have an expensive sound card with a built in Sound Canvas chip or some other module emulator entirely for synth on midi music. Also, if you are using an external keyboard module, I would suggest you use midi for the examples.

If you are using a cheaper or older sound card using FM synth sounds, then the songs will sound like an old computer game. If this is the case, use the Mp3 Audio examples. The song examples will sound the same from one computer to the next.

The latest version of media player will play Mp3s, but the most popular is Mp3 player is Winamp.

Graphics :

Graphics are either in Jpeg, Gif, Animated Gif or Macromedia Flash Format (animation including audio). Despite my best efforts to keep file sizes to a minimum, some pages are heavy on graphics which makes it slower to download. Graphics are an important part of this learning process, so while the pages are slightly slower, just remember you will ultimately be a better player!

Print pages are also set up from
the pages that have animated Gifs.

Please Note: Some pages have audio examples as well as animated Gifs on them, and when selecting the audio it may stop the Gifs from playing. If this happens, simply refresh the page to restart the animations.

Movies/Codecs:

Movies on this site are either in...

Mpeg Format: codec comes with Media Player!

Xvid Format: download codec here!

Divx Format: download codec here!

MPEG: Windows Media Player will support this format, but if you have a very old version of media player that won't play Mpegs, then you can get the new version from Microsoft.
